design by Phil Tyler
following on from his Depron "Box" series Phil has produced this winning Footy design in Carbon Fibre, containing all the latest design elements. With his first time out performance in Le Havre resulting in a Gold Cup victory over what is becoming increasingly stiffer opposition and the following it up in a closely fought victory at Furzton Lake in 2014. With planned improvements on the way I am sure we will be seing much more of the SliM design in future. Read more about the SliM and it's designer here |
developed from Phil Tylers SliM by Peter Shepherd/Peter Jackson
built from balsa, the round bilge version of the SliM is intended to bring the design ethos of the original to the everyday builder/skipper. With careful construction it can be built to the same weight and if results are anything to go by so far should provide a very competitive boat. A detailed dxf plan and the shadows in pdf can be downloaded here. |
design by Marcus Wahlin

design by Roger Stollery
Currently sailed by some of the top Footy skippers in the UK . The Carbon fiber ICE is the product of extensive development by Roger Stollery, the yacht pictured here has the Stollery balanced swing rig, a very clever sail design that utilises carbon tube with light & soft plastic bags for sails, the material itself gives the sail form and the way the booms are mounted to the mast, and various other clever details, set up correctly, give a well balanced and quick sail. The hull is not generally available but the similar hard chine versions Supabug and AWK are buildable on the kitchen table and can be made to go well. |

a balsa ICE derivative it follows very closely the hull lines of the original whilst being developed with an easier to make deck and top line that makes the model easier to produce in balsa. The compound curves of the hull are however still tricky to make and shape. |
design by David Wilkinson
Judging by the results in 2012/2013 of Iambus 2, it is one of the better hull designs on the current scene sailed by it's designer, David Wilkinson, who has agreed to put together an article for the website about his approach when designing this Footy. With it's lightweight & Una rig sail, and David's handling it certainly was tough competitor in 2012. |
design by Bill Hagerup
Easy to build, easy to sail, what more can I say. If you are just starting out making and sailing a Footy, then this simple balsa chine hull could be just what your looking for to get you started. You can download the plans here. Website with some useful build instructions for the first timer here. |
design by Roger Stollery
the latest in a string of Footy Designs based on a 2mm Correx hull, an 8' x 4' sheet of Correx costs around £5.00 and makes umpteen hulls so it is ideal for club/youth group projects, and the performance is pretty good too. The one in the picture is being sailed by Roger himself at Freds Big Toephy 2012 Footy open event. Download the plans here. The plans now contain all the latest updates recently revised by Roger. |
design by Bill Hagerup
a narrow hull, balsa chine design with excellent downwind performance. Plans can be downloaded here, and there is more information on footy.rcsailing.net to see the article on how to build this boat reproduced by kind permission of Bill Hagerup there is a round bottom HIPS version of the Ranger called the Half Pint Too available from Breaking Wind Boats

concept by Paul Risdale
The Puma 305 came about by the fact that my previous own designs had not performed well and I needed something new. I had built a Jif 2 / Puma over the Christmas break which sailed well. Would a Footy version be as good? Arranging the formers at 30mm spacing instead of the RG65 65mm suggested it would be broad in the beam but not unattractive. I decided to reduce the deck level by 10mm and with the Videlo Trophy as a target for its first race started building. Find the full PUMA305 instructions here

by Camillo Gianmarco & Claudio Vigada
the Easy3 was inspired by Phil Tylers, depron Box boat after these designers had seen it at the Footy Gold Cup 2012 in Sestriere, built in depron a material which is a well known among young model airplane builders, it lends itself to small boats as long as there is a good structural design as a starting point, it is waterproof and requires no painting. |
