Bassett Lowke Trophy

The 2018 version of the Bassett Lowke Trophy saw nine skippers assemble in the light airs around the Abington Park boating lake, the fickle winds kept everyone on their toes, with John Burgoine and Peter Jackson racing it out for the victory, is it any coincidence that these two have adapted their big rigs with stiffer masts and carbon tube on the luff of the foresail? Despite more wins PJ ended up finishing second as a one to many poor result combined with John's greater consistency combined to rob PJ of the win.
Further back in the mid fleet it was all very close with Peter Shepherd, David Wilkinson and Keith Bell all struggling at times to make sense of the conditions at times. With the slight breeze finally dying in the early afternoon we decided to give up the unequal struggle and call it a day.
Another pleasurable, if slightly frustrating at times Footy event enjoyed by all.
