Easy 3

by Claudio Vigada

After Footy Gold Cup 2012 in Sestriere we were very impressed by the excellent performance of Phil Tyler's boat which finished in 4th place. By studying the pictures taken and the details that Phil had posted on the forum was very easy to see that the boat was essential simple and easy to build.

In Italy, (as in the UK)*  we have difficulty attracting young people to building and sailing RC model yachts. I set out to create an easy route to follow so that a dedicated youngster could accomplish in a few nights with very little equipment building a radio control boat to start them in racing Footy .

The depron material is a very well-known among the young model airplane fliers and lends itself to create small boats as long as it has good structural design as a starting point, it is waterproof and requires no painting.

For the general conception therefore I started the project Easy Sail where you see the presentation on my site here: www.progetto-urca. com / urca / planning / Easy _rc / index.htm .  my internet page also links to the Italian Forum the Red Baron and the building complete log of construction drawings.

For forms and the provisions of sails and appendages instead I followed in principle the boat of Phil Tyler. We have now made prototypes and finalised the details of the project and  Camillo Di Gianmmarco has produced the design drawings.

The main parameters are:
Boat is not an extreme diagonal with an overall length of about 32 cm
displacement between 450 and 500 grams
bulb weight of between 270 and 300 grams
sail area to the Arno main 13.5-14 dm2
