South Midland Footy League 2011 -End of Year Report

Picture
We arranged nine events throughout the year and managed to attract two new Footy sailors, Peter Shepherd from our host club Wicksteed Park Model Boat Club and Paul Risdale. We had nine skippers turn out for our best attended event and only four at the worst. The standard of sailing is improving and a very friendly atmosphere has been created for the racing. Various courses have been set throughout the year, some complex and tricky whilst others have been relatively easy.

We have adopted a system of timing throughout the day based upon a clockwork egg timer. This gives a specific time between races before the final minute, we even do it to time lunch! The outcome is the day does not slip away from you and everyone knows when they need to be on the water. This system has become known as the Gary Sanderson race management system.

The races are scored as normal with low scores winning and the appropriate throw away scores being applied, however for the league scoring, the winner gets 50 points and second 49 and so on. Again, there are two discard scores, which in this case are the lower ones. The following table summarizes the results throughout the year.
