Midland Footy League - March 2013 Results

Abington Park Model Yacht Club hosted this first event of the Midland Footy League for 2013; the weather in March for this date is usually much better with spring around the corner. Well this day was quite bad, with intermittent sleet and squally cold winds from Siberia.
Peter Shepherd was the Officer Of The Day and he set an upwind spreader followed by a wing buoy to a leeward buoy followed by a sausage through a windward gate, and a beat to the finish.
Stollery size ‘B’ sails were the order of the day, for most of the fleet with Sid Simms from BMYC going for a small Mac Rig on his 1299. The other skippers were sailing a mixture of Ice, Wice and Box Footys.
Peter Shepherd had his racing head on today and could do no wrong; he picked up every wind shift and was always in the right place at the right time. Early on Paul Risdale was doing quite well but later on succumbed to getting into irons problems. Peter Jackson started to put in some second places to Peter Shepherd, but could not really catch the ICE. Dave Lissaman was also starting to show some promise picking up second and third places.
It was good to see old friends again after the winter break and look forward to welcoming more Footy friends at the next event on April 14th.
