With the British weather threatening, and a now full lake, the scene was set for a day of fun at Clevedon’s marine lake.
A small selection of sailors from the South West including Chris Jackson, David Wilkinson, Mike and myself from the Clevedon club, set out to sail a few fun races around some of the scale obstacles, including scale navigation buoys and a Lighthouse! To make things interesting, the lighthouse was anchored at only one end, and in the fluky shifty wind associated with high tide, its movements caught some of the sailors out, including me. After a few technical issues with his Swing rig equipped Duck, Mike swapped to my spare boat (a Razor 3) borrowing one of David’s extremely well made rigs. David was sailing his Iambus 2, whilst I was sailing my Ranger. Chris Jackson was sailing a Charles Detriche design. |
