With spring breaks taking their toll on the entry numbers it was left to Messers Jackson & Shepherd to fight this one out. New to the Footy scene Keith Bell looked as if he might take them on only to discover that metal geared 9g sail servo's don't work, sorry Keith should have told you earlier! Geoff Raygada's fat Boy was sporting a new suit of sails and he put them to good effect in the morning session to lunch staying within 2 points of the two Peters. Sid Sims sailed consistently for his fourth place, picking the right sail when the breeze freshened for his best positions in the middle of the day.
Keith Parrott is always a welcome visitor from Frensham Pond always bringing a pleasurable enthusiasm for the class to events , his scorecard was peppered with a number of top three finishes however Sid pipped him with greater consistancy. Derek Lane laboured away trying to keep in the hunt and pinch a place here or there and was rewarded with the a small runners up prize.
With just one point between Peter Shepherd and Peter Jackson at lunch it looked like it was going to be tough fight all the way to the end however Peter S turned on the style taking the Bassett Lowke Trophy for the second time in it's six year history.
Tim Leese acted superbly as Race Officer, event photographer, scorer and all time good egg so many thanks go to him for keeping everything going smoothly. The next events upon the horizon are 3rd June 2017, Extreme Footy Series ACT3 Birmingham MYC and in the Open series the not to be missed Cheddar Steam Open, Saturday 24th June 2017.
